Dicky Beach, today. In the back of a beachcomber's shed sits an old sea chest, and in it a tin that has been in the family for generations. Gran always said it came ashore off the Dicky in 1893.
Inside is a letter from Ned Farrow, fourteen, ship's boy on the SS Dicky. In February 1893 a storm drove the steamer onto the beach that now carries her name, and nobody died. Ned's letter takes you back aboard, through the gale and the grounding, puzzle by puzzle, until the tin gives up its story.
